Military Appreciation Games

baseball color guardMilitary Appreciation Baseball Nights, are a unique opportunity for active military and veteran families along with the civilian community to come together and enjoy the great “American Past Time”.  The Military Family Support Center became the official sponsor of the Salem Red Sox Military Appreciation Night (formerly Salem Avalanche) in 2008, a program which Salem has offered for over 20 years.  The Games which are sponsored by local businesses offer free admission and dinner (hot dogs, chips, and drinks) to all military personnel and their immediate family (active, reserve, guard, retired, or veteran).  In 2011 the MFSC was invited to expand the program to the Lynchburg Hillcats and the Pulaski Yankees (former the Pulaski Mariners).  In 2012 the Akron Aeros invited the MFSC to participate in their Military Appreciation Game.  2014 saw the addition of the Bluefield Bluejays to the Military Appreciation Games roster, and 2015 the MFSC is pleased to also add the Princeton Rays.

Fill the HumveeThe Military Appreciation Night Games are an annual event, when past and present members of the military come together in appreciation of the others service to country.  At these games static displays inform fans about local units, multi-service color guards and recruit induction ceremonies providing a unique opportunity for camaraderie between warriors of different generations and civilians alike.
